Today we will review Task 5 and Coordinate Planes for tomorrow's Advancement.

1-28-2014 Gallery Walk

Today we will do a Gallery Walk to check out our Triangle Task Posters.

Norms for Gallery Walk:
-Learn from each other
-Be respectful of all work
-The FOCUS of the gallery walk is on the MATHEMATICS/Strategies of the problem, NOT the answer.

Start by looking at the EXPLANATION posters for the level you worked on.
-Are the explanations clear?  Have the groups made a viable argument?
-If they aren't, what questions might you ask that will push for more precise explanation?  (Write your questions on a POST IT and attach to the poster.)

Next look at the STATUS posters of the level you worked on.
- Compare and contrast people's way of thinking on these posters to your own way of thinking.

Finally, visit posters of a different level than yours.  Compare and contrast.

If time, we will work on Task 5.  TASK 5 should be finished by tomorrow as we will go over the answers.

1-27-2014 Finish Task 5

On Wednesday, February 5th, please join us at LOMS for a math information workshop for parents.  Find out about the SLCUSD's Secondary Mathematics Progression timeline.

6th grade students will be taking the MDTP Pre-Algebra Readiness test on April 7 and 9.  This test is the first assessment to qualify students for 7th grade accelerated/compacted 7th grade course.

Questions regarding the Mathematics Progression will be addressed at the February 5th meeting.

Today we will FINISH our Triangle Posters.

Then we will work on Task 5.  You need to finish it by Wednesday.

Tomorrow, we will do a Gallery Walk and presentations regarding the the Triangle Posters.  I will be asking questions, and EVERYONE in the team should be able to answer.  So practice your presentations.

Wednesday we will go over Task 5.  We will also talk about Coordinate planes.

Thursday we will all take the Yellow Belt Advancement covering Task 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.  Be sure to study!

1-13-2013 Task 3!

Please turn in your Final Game Design Reflection here.

Work on Triangles with TEAMS for 15 minutes.  Find people who are working on the same level as you and make a team of four.

Core One:  Eric still needs to share Task 2.
Core Two:  Connor needs to share Task 2.

If you do not plug in your computer or shut it down you will get a $10 fine.
(Jimmy did not shut down his computer last week.  $5 fine.  This week it will be $10)

We will work on Task 3 today.  You should finish it today and start Task 4 tomorrow.

Today you should have Task 2 finished and turned in.  I will go over some of the Khan Academy problems for those of you who are having trouble.

1-7-2014 Task 2 Problems

Planner!  Homework:
Finish Problem 6 on Task 2 Doc.  Due tomorrow.
Task 2 entire Doc is due Thursday.

Remember!  If you turn in a Task after it is due, please EMAIL me and let me know.  Many of you turned in Task 1 yesterday, which was late.  Next time, get into the habit of emailing me to notify me or you may do all that work for nothing if I don't know to grade it!

Take out your Task 2 Problems and open Task 2 in your Drive.  No music or chairs at this time.

1-6-2014 Happy New Year!

Take out your planner: If you did not finish Task 2 Problem Set, finish the last two by tomorrow as we will go over them then.  If you do not understand how to do these problems, do as much as you can.  TRY IT!  Be a problem solver!  You can do it!  :)

Today we will begin a Problem Of The Month.  It is due at the end of January.

Check PowerSchool to see your grade for Task 1.  You must finish it before going on to Task 2!
